September 2006

Real estate bubble? Bust? hardly. Mass media has always been behind when it comes to that Industry, but especially now. Greed is a far different explanation but you won't hear that on CNN. Just this weekend I read a national "news" story about a young couple trying to sell their nice four bedroom house in order to move up. They orginally were asking $402,000 and not using a broker. Then they signed with an agent, dropping price to $369,000, with no offers still. This supposedly is the makings of a bust. Well, I don't think so. Because if you look closely at the article, you will find that these folks paid $167,000 on January 1, 2003.

Now, excuse me for saying, but isn't it a little safe to say there's room here for the 120% gross profit by lowering the price to a level that sells the house, today? Just because their eyes want the bigger place with pool, ( in order to get it they have to ask so much for the current home) why should this matter to a buyer? At $325,000 people would be lining up in Florida to negotiate. But no, because that makes it harder to buy the new toy with pool! Sorry, this is not a bust, it's greed. Nothing more.

My trusted source in New York had some interesting sightings to report recently. Was that really Russell Simmons himself getting behind the cash register @ Phat Farm and counting the money himself? Ghetto to say the least. Was that Jay Z and Steve Stout chopping it up together at Cipriani? Let bygones be bygone, or so it appears.

Changes to this website are slow, but it is coming. I am still on board for the 2007 season @ EA Sports, but that's about it for the promotions game. I think its time to let young new players do their thing. So the Jet Li film promotion for Seattle went to my guy Sonny Bonoho. Like I say, it's time. Meanwhile, look for future links, reviews and more as we develop the new Dexter site.

The new Heathman Hotel in Kirkland, Washington is going to be hot. The dining room is going to be the next scene on the eastside, trust me. Meantime, the Portland branch is still the place to be for that old school luxury.

I am really proud of my kid James Washington for taking over a little restaurant on Rainier Ave. & Genesee, near the Columbia City neighborhood, in Seattle. There will be a name change in his wife's honor, Shari T's BBQ. I hope to be of assistance with their remodel and financing, stay tuned for my marketing push! This may even be the new afterhours competition on weekends for the club rats. Face it, people get tired of the Minnies, 13 Coins, Denny's, IHOP, Purple Dot venues and just have to have their BBQ!
