October 2007

You might say T.I. (Atlantic Records) is having a bad week. Some think the gun charges are harmful enough. The Industry might disagree and say winning only 20% of your award nominations is worse! Whichever side you're taking, it's safe to say it's all going to be very expensive to deal with. For what this is going to cost him, T.I. could have hired Blackwater to deal with whatever he thought was goin' down! Why do artists need that kind of firepower anyway? This could get interesting...

Seattle has it's own Drama to work with. Kids who whip out black phones while lifting their shirts after being cornered by police, might be having a painful week too, not to mention their families. The story is developing, there are two sides to it, but 13 year olds who end up in the hospital from police gunfire make for a very distressing time for everyone involved. This isn't our style up here in the 206, unless we are talking about the Central District, in which case, it's business as usual.

The C.D. ( as we call it locally) has suffered long enough. It seems the community can't get anywhere with local law enforcement procedure and vice versa. This town is so small I would think we would know if particular 13 year olds were card carrying killers or near-future shooters. May I suggest we don't have any? Am I being naive here? Or does living and working in this neighborhood not count? But then, I wasn't on Yesler Ave. last weekend, so maybe I'll stop right here and let you think about what it does to us collectively in Seattle when things like shooting little kids goes down like that. If we were ALL neighbors AND neighborly, would this have happened at all?

I have taken delivery of the new Bread Winna mix CD, produced by Funk Daddy, and, ok, it's hot. Best of all, he's bringing it back with no swearing of any kind! I can't even do that when I speak! Tastemakers, get with www.OceanRecords.com for your copy, quickly.

Remember Kid Sensation? There's some behind the scene marinatin' happening, that's all I'm going to say right now. Oh don't worry, you're going to hear about it.

BUZZ FOR OCTOBER: Fisker Tramonto, Larry Ellison's new hotel in Malibu, Mahalo search engine, Hotel LKF (Hong Kong), www.PearlResorts.com, Guggenheim Partners Aviation division coming to Seattle, the King of Thailand, Country Wide Mortgage Indictment? Hung from Guy Savoy (Vegas) and Top Chef.
