What is your definition of Leadership? Does it have anything to do with skills such as global collaboration, moderation, "walking" the example, focus, commitment to excellence, respect for all ways of life, a desire to leave behind a legacy, not merely a manifest destiny? If so, I invite you to consider your options this November if you are a voting member of society in the United States and decide for yourself what kind of leadership should be in the White House.
The Drama this month starts out with a Crazy Pinoy/MasterCard kind of night. Standby charges for driver while I try and get out of a work situation to get to show on time: $85.00..........parking in Belltown:$10.00........lost button on Jhanes Barnes shirt while changing in towncar:$145.00......beer: $4.00...
Cover charge: $0.00 Getting to see Source Of Labor for their farewell show at Crocodile Cafe' in Seattle: priceless.
Don't let the coddling of corporate radio fool you, the streets always know what is next BEFORE it's next! You won't hear anything about Tech Nine on some of these airwaves but you certainly will make the show when he gets into town. For Seattle and Portland, Cool Nutz presents this midwest tastemaker on May15th and 17th, check listings for your own area. Or, fly to the Northwest and see what you're missing up here!
We're not even finished with the 2004 push for EA Sports yet and already we hear about music for some of the 2005 product. Congrats are in order (again!) to Nocturnal Rage (www.NocOnWood.com) for landing on NHL 2005 for soundtrack work. We are also hearing preliminary tracks from their labelmate, Pop Du' Rilla, and can only imagine what the street will be talking about when it finds out UGK has put in work with this guy, stay tuned for that!
If you attended Urban Network last weekend you already know Nasty Nes (RapAttackLives.com) is just about ready for volume 2 of his vinyl compilation. Contact Nes at NastyNes1@aol.com for your submissions. You have until the 15th, so fedex, baybeee.
We're pending on that Yukmouth (RapALot Records) project but you already knew we've his back for years anyway. We'll keep you posted!
I won't call it a wankster move for the month (we have a better one than this) but what is up with calling the Christina Aguilera / Chingy tour cancellation health related when you KNOW it was presale ticket problems that caused that? Come on now! Meantime, Prince sells out wherever he goes and the majors just can't stop him! Think about that, talent is talent....
BUZZ FOR MAY : Electronic Voting machine scandals, MiraBeau club (Seattle), Guesthouse West (London), Kennedy Airport Clubhouse (Terminal 4 / NY), Mix (NY), First Tuesdays at WaterFront Pier 70(Seattle),
M.J.'s material witnesses, Dalmore Scotch (try the 12 year, it's next!), Harvard Management Updates, Modest Mouse (epic records), Self Expression (Salt Lake City), and a monorail crisis in Seattle you would not believe....
WANKSTER FOR MAY : Brandon Mayfield, attorney in Portland Oregon. Even if this guy had little to do with it how does his fingerprint get on an unexploded bomb on a train in Madrid? Brandon, those things are meant to kill people,,,,,oh wait, the other bomb already did that for over 100 spanish citizens!
